James Charbonneau, 69, of Wake Forest NC, passed away on June 9, 2010. Jim was born in Detroit Michigan to Rudolph and Mary Charbonneau.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley Ann.
He is survived by his spouse, Betty Jean Charbonneau, previous wife, Diane Charbonneau; daughter Dana Christiansen and husband Guy Christiansen, son Brad Charbonneau, stepson Ken Oberkrom, granddaughters Sara Metcalfe, Aimé Charbonneau, Jessie Oberkrom; grandsons Tyler Christiansen, Kyle Miller, John Christiansen, Zach Charbonneau, Jacob Oberkrom, great-grandson Joshua Metcalfe, brother-in-law Vernon Mottert, sister-in-laws Linda Parker, Kathy Mottert and nephew Dan Mottert.
Jim moved with his family to St. Louis Missouri in 1973. He retired from General Motors in 1986. He was an avid boater in both Michigan and St. Charles Missouri, and well known to all at Woodland and Lake Center Marinas, where he lived aboard his boat the âBradanaâ for many years. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and friend.
Jim enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including snow skiing, ultra light flying, racquetball, bowling, fishing, photography, music, swimming, woodworking and most recently he was an active member of the Raleigh Durham Radio Control airplane club. Jim did nothing in life with half measure. He worked, loved, laughed and played his way through this life with focus and heart.
Memorial Service will be held on June 26, 2010 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Parker Reception Center at Cremation Society of the Carolinas, 2205 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society (www.leukemia-lymphoma.org) or Victory Junction (www.victoryjunction.org) a camp for children with special health needs.
