Once again Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker and his greedy ways have made their way back for another vote ("Lightner tower gets another chance," news story, June 14). We the public should not have to pay for a building that is overpriced and has options that are clearly not needed. Taking one level off does not cut it. A building is supposed to be a workplace, not a place to relax.

The office luxuries are extreme and uncalled for. It's a workplace, not a spa or a jungle gym. And let's not forget the $780,000 for art work. Why can't you get local artists to donate their work for display?

Who is paying for this committee to review this disaster again?

Meeker continues to squander money like it grows on trees, and there are many other things for which it could be put to better use.

No one cares about how many taxes we pay and if some people have enough money to make ends meet. Clearly the only objective for Meeker and City Manager Russell Allen is to have their castle, no matter what the cost.
