The Oberlin Community Grocery and Deli is under new ownership.

The landmark on Oberlin Road is one of Raleigh's oldest establishments. It sells old-fashioned home-style sandwiches, salads and lunch dishes', and goodies to go, such as moon pies and cream soda.

The new owner, Neal Flaven, says he won't change much (steak sandwiches and hot dogs will remain, so calm down).

Dan McGee, the previous owner, ran the shop for more than 36 years. He bought it from A.J. Jeffreys, who bought it in 1943. It's at least 80 years old, and was long a grocery store before switching to hot food.

It has long been a favorite of Raleigh residents who live inside the Beltline.
