After a decade at Raleigh's Crabtree Valley Mall, the Triangle's lone Crate & Barrel store will move to Durham's Streets at Southpoint mall.
The store, which is a favorite among brides-to-be and homeowners, will still be at Crabtree for one more holiday shopping season.
Company spokeswoman Vicki Lang said she couldn't give a date for the move but that the Raleigh store will remain open into the first quarter of 2011, when the Southpoint store will open.
The Southpoint store will be bigger.
Construction has just started on a new 25,000-square- foot building next to Urban Outfitters in the outside portion of the mall.
When it opens, the new store will be a Crate & Barrel Home Store, a larger store that carries a full line of furniture and more home goods.
"Our challenge was to find just the right real estate opportunity to meet the unique combined needs of our Home Store business," Lang said.
Crabtree spokeswoman Sandra Geist declined to comment except to say that Crate & Barrel's lease is up in January and that the mall is working to find a replacement tenant for the space.
... Also at Crabtree, North Face will take over the spot formerly occupied by Ruby Tuesday. The 6,000-square- foot store will open in November.
Krispy Kreme is continuing its aggressive expansion in the Triangle with yet another store.
Located at 11721 Retail Drive in Wake Forest (across from the Chick-fil-A), the new Krispy Kreme will open at 6 a.m. July 7.
Unlike at the other stores the company has opened here recently, the doughnuts will be cooked at the Person Street store, but the glazing will be done on site.
Yes, that means there will be a "Hot Now" sign blazing in the window.
Starting this week, the Western Wake Farmers' Market in Cary will begin taking credit, debit and Electronic Benefit Transfer cards.
That gives people on EBT another way to get fresh local produce while using their benefits.
The farmers' market is on Morrisville Carpenter Road between Davis Drive and N.C. 55 in Carpenter Village. It's open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, April through November.
