While I congratulate N.C. State University fans on the recent hire of Debbie Yow as athletic director, I don't understand why this poaching within the Atlantic Coast Conference is never mentioned. State now has stolen sports talent twice within the ACC, with this move and the taking of football coach Tom O'Brien from Boston College.

One of the unwritten rules of college sports is, don't steal from your brethren. I am a Maryland alum, and I remember being shocked by the O'Brien move also.

Yow is a good person. I think she'll be a great A.D., and I would have taken this job too, if I were in her shoes. Still, with excellent candidates out there like Bobby Purcell, as well as other experienced A.D.s, there was no need to poach within the conference.

I used to have a soft spot in my heart for Wolfpack athletics, but no more.
