Throughout all this talk about the diversity policy and the new Wake County school board, not once have I heard whether or not many of the board members have children.

Having attended magnet institutions in lower grades and having just graduated from Enloe High School, I know first-hand the effect that destroying the diversity policy would have on schools. Consequently, my parents are also well aware. They are certain that such a change would ruin the chances for many students to escape undesirable living circumstances, as well as opportunities to discover a love for music, singing, dance, art or language.

Do the new school board members have any idea what they're talking about? Although I might not always get along with my parents, I would rather have them serving on the school board: at least they understand the consequences of dismantling the diversity policy.
