The last paragraph in the July 2 "Curious search" letter about the Wake County school board reads, "We have no one to blame but ourselves. Next time we all need to get off our butts and vote." I didn't have that opportunity because I am in Board of Education District 6 and the last election was not our time to vote for a candidate.

Why is this? Because Wake County votes by district and I can't vote until my District 6 time comes up to vote. This results in my not being able to vote for the full Wake County Board of Education.

Why? Because the individual municipalities would not approve consolidation of Wake County and Raleigh school boards without district voting.

That time has passed, and the voting citizens of Wake County need to be given the opportunity to vote for all school board members. Remember: All citizens get to vote for our Wake County commissioners.
