RALEIGH — The Wake County school system has signed the paperwork to relocate its main administrative offices from Raleigh to Cary.
School officials executed a lease Monday with MayfieldGentry Realty Advisors to increase its office space to 175,000 square feet at Crossroads Corporate Park, located off Dillard Drive near the Crossroads shopping center in Cary. Wake will consolidate several locations, including its main building on 3600 Wake Forest Road in Raleigh.
School officials got the final approval they needed last week from the state Local Government Commission. County commissioners approved the deal last month.
School officials say the consolidation will save $29 million over 20 years, mostly from the sale of its current buildings.
