Chef Ashley Christensen of Raleigh's Poole's Diner has scheduled another Stir the Pot fundraising event.
On Aug. 8, guest chefs Alex Raij and Eder Montero of Txikito, a Basque restaurant in New York, will be cooking. Travel and Leisure magazine named Txikito (pronounced Chic-kee-toe) among the 50 best new restaurants in the country. The wine dinner costs $150 per person. Call 832-4477 to make a reservation.

Christensen said Poole's will have two more Stir the Pot events: one in November with chef John Currence of Oxford, Miss.; and one in January with two Nashville chefs, Tyler Brown of Capitol Grille of The Hermitage Hotel and Tandy Wilson of City House. More details to come on those events.
The events benefit the Southern Foodways Alliance, an Oxford, Miss.-based organization that documents, studies and promotes Southern food traditions.
Memoir writing workshop
Food writer Kim Sunee is bringing her Floating Island Writing Workshop to Chapel Hill this fall. Sunee, author of the best-selling memoir "Trail of Crumbs: Hunger, Love, and the Search for Home," was a food editor at Southern Living and Cottage Living magazines.
