The Capital Area Soccer League's Elite amateur adult team played in the U.S. National Men's Open Cup in Philadelphia this past week, finishing third in the U.S. Adult Soccer Association event.

New CASL scholarship
Family and friends of a CASL soccer player who died last year have created a scholarship fund in his honor.
Jerry Hart, a member of the '92 CASL Premier Soccer Team, died on Jan. 26, 2009, following a car accident. He was 16.
To commemorate Hart's life, 200 red bracelets were made in his honor, and profits from the sale of those bracelets helped launch the Jerry Hart Memorial Scholarship Fund. Overseen by the CASL Scholarship Committee, the scholarship is to be awarded to a CASL Classic Division player "who displays an academic integrity and a yearning to excel in the sport which Jerry loved the most, soccer."

The Triangle Futbol Club's U20 Boys Super Y team finished with two draws and a loss this past weekend in the United Soccer Leagues' USL Super-20 League North American Finals in Rockford, Ill.

In the other two matches, TFC lost 3-0 to the Los Angeles Galaxy Juniors and tied Brooklyn United 1-1, with midfielder Casey Francis scoring. TFC's 0-1-2 record produced two points, short of making the semifinal round.
