If you use social networking site FourSquare on your smart phone, you may be able to snag some extra discounts just for checking in when you visit certain businesses.
For instance:
The Cambria Suites in Morrisville (300 Airgate Drive) offers customers a free beverage at the bar when they check in for the first time via FourSquare.
Sauced Pizza in Raleigh: $5 off any large pizza when you check in on Foursquare (excludes late-night slices/whole).
42nd Street Oyster Bar in downtown Raleigh (that location only): Show a manager that you are the mayor on Foursquare and receive a free appetizer under $10.
New World Coffee House in Raleigh: Show that you've checked in on Foursquare and get 10 percent off.
Electric Beanz in Raleigh offers its mayor 50 percent off.
Larry's Beans tour
Raleigh coffee roasting company Larry's Beans has announced the next date for its super-popular factory tour: Sept. 25.
On the tour, you'll get to check out the place where the Larry's staff roasts all the beans and see many of the factory's ecofriendly features. Those include the biofuel pump out front, the awesome open-air layout of the plant and of course the Veggie Bus that runs on recycled oil.
I'm also told that this time around there will be snacks from Neomonde, beverages from Big Boss and live music. If you're lucky, maybe Larry will show you some of his dance moves (he's rumored to be a pretty good dancer).
Find out more on Larry's Facebook page, and act quickly. The tours usually fill up early.
PSP loyalty club
When I stopped by Pet Supplies Plus, the clerk informed me that Pet Supplies Plus now has a loyalty program with a loyalty club card.
It's called the PSP Preferred Pet Club, and members get discounts. Also, the cards will be used to track the store's loyalty club program in which you get a free bag of your pet food for every 10 you buy.
Signing up is free. When you sign up, you will get a batch of "welcome" coupons, including a lot of BOGO coupons for toys and treats plus a coupon for $5 off your next purchase of $50 or more.
