Wake County sheriff's deputies made a third arrest Tuesday in a phony craigslist deal that ended in gunfire near Wendell.
Sherie Brooks, 32, of 3201 Broughton Road, Wendell, is facing one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to arrest warrants filed at the Wake County Magistrate's Office.
Those are identical charges to the ones filed against two Wendell sisters earlier this month involving the June 9 craigslist sale of inexpensive smart phones gone bad.
Sherida Quanette Bullock, 28, and Acqua Bullock, 21, both of 306 Windy Hill Drive, remain in custody in the Wake County jail.
Ibrahima Diouf, the prospective buyer, was not injured, but he said at least one bullet hit his car during the night-time encounter.
All three women are accused in warrants of arranging a meeting with Diouf under the pretense of selling him six smart phones for $1,100.
According to Diouf, he first met Acqua Bullock after seeing a craigslist ad for a Motorola smart phone. They met at the Bojangles' restaurant on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh, where he paid her $260 for the phone.
Later, after his friends liked the phone, Diouf called Acqua Bullock and asked whether she could sell him others like it. He agreed to meet her June 9.
Diouf said Acqua Bullock called him from a private number and directed him to a country store in Wendell for the sale. She explained that she was calling from her home phone because her cell phone had gone dead, Diouf said.
When Diouf got to the store, he said, Acqua Bullock was not there, but Sherida Bullock arrived and told him to follow her to a home on Heritage Drive in an unincorporated area near Wendell.
Once there, Sherida Bullock drove away, Diouf said. After he pulled into the home's driveway about 10:30 p.m., he said, another car with "four or five guys" inside parked behind him, blocking his vehicle.
Sensing something was wrong, Diouf said he drove off, narrowly missing a tree and a drainage ditch. As he sped off, he heard three gunshots.
Brooks is being held this morning in the Wake County jail on $75,000 bond.
