In Garner, husband and wife team Colleen and Nathan Roby are taking the leap from corporate chain kitchen to a kitchen of their own.
Along with business partner Edwin Hoyt IV of Fuquay-Varina, the Robys opened TerraFin Station at 25 Old Drugstore Road.
The restaurant lives up to its name, serving steaks and pastas (the Terra part) and seafood (which would be the Fin).
Nathan Roby and Hoyt worked together for the Bahama Breeze restaurant chain. Roby was an executive chef and Hoyt was a front-of-the-house manager.
Colleen Roby, who works as a Spanish teacher at Holly Springs High School, helps with the restaurant's marketing and promotion.
TerraFin is open for dinner Monday through Friday and lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.
In Raleigh's Cameron Village, the Pirate's Chest antique market is changing hands and names at the end of this month.
Bridget Jadwick, who owns the Antiques Emporium above the Pirate's Chest space, will be the new owner. The new name will be the Cheshire Cat Gallery.
The Pirate's Chest replaced the long-standing Carolina Antique Mall almost three years ago.
Owner Jack Alexander declined to say why the ownership change is happening but said that many of the store's vendors and tenants will be staying and that there should be little to no interruption between the two owners.
Jadwick said that she hopes to add a few new vendors over the next month. The store will not close, but she'll hold a grand opening in October.
