LITTLETON -- On land and under water, the search continued Saturday evening for Karl Besas of Raleigh, who disappeared Friday night in Lake Gaston.
"They were still diving," said Lt. George Evans of the Halifax County Sheriff's Department.
Besas, 24, never returned to a boat from which he and four friends dived to go swimming, according to the sheriff's office. The friends called 911 when they went back to the boat but Besas failed to reappear.
Foul play is not suspected.
