CARY -- A West Lake Middle School student was subdued with a Taser stun gun Monday to break up a campus fight, authorities said.
The Cary police officer assigned as West Lake's school resource officer was responding to a fight between a female student and a significantly smaller male student, according to Michael Evans, a Wake schools' spokesman. Unable to break up the fight, Evans said, the officer fired his Taser at the female student.
The student was taken to a hospital for observation, Evans said.
