New food and wine festival
This looks like an interesting event, given the chefs who will be serving food. TerraVITA Food and Wine Event is aiming to be a food and wine event in Chapel Hill that draws folks from all over the Southeast. It will be 1-5 p.m. Oct. 16, on the green at Southern Village. Tickets cost $65.
It will feature tastings of more than 100 biodynamic and organic wines andmicrobrews, as well as food samples from these chefs: Bill Smith of Crook's Corner, Scott Howell of Nana's, Scott Crawford of Herons at the Umstead Hotel, Chip Smith of Bonne Soiree, Jason Smith of 18 Seaboard, John Stehling of Early Girl Eatery in Asheville, Vivian Howard of Chef & The Farmer in Kinston, Jay Pierce of Lucky 32, Stephen Ribustello of On The Square in Tarboro, Seth Kingsbury of Pazzo!, Adam Rose of Il Palio, Sarig Agasi of Zely & Ritz, Bret Jennings of Elaine's on Franklin and Jeff Barney of the Saxapahaw General Store. Also chocolatiers, cheese-makers, bakers and organic coffee and tea producers will offering tastings.
