Published: September 10, 2010

Cary town officials said no one was injured in an explosion Thursday at an organic chemical company.

The explosion occurred Thursday afternoon in a lab at Natland International Corp. at 2700 Gateway Centre Blvd. while an employee was routinely mixing chemical compounds, town officials said.

Ceiling tiles and lab cabinets were damaged but no significant structural damage was reported.

Natland employees and other businesses in the building were allowed to return to their offices.

Natland may be held responsible for emergency response costs, the town said.
