In the Sept. 7 front-page article "Two men shape fight over diversity," Ron Margiotta, chairman of the Wake County school board, is quoted as saying "We're not talking about segregation. I don't see that here." As someone who moved to Raleigh a little over a year ago, I cannot speak yet to the issue of segregation in Wake County. And since I have no relatives in North Carolina, I have no direct stake in the diversity issue.

However, of all the possible social groups in which one can be placed, I can state based upon 67 years of experience that members of the white, male Christian social group are the least likely to spot or understand segregation or any other racial, religious or ethnic prejudice.
