The number of information technology job openings in North Carolina rose 14.9 percent from July to August, far outpacing the growth in openings nationwide, according to a new report.

Statewide, openings for IT jobs in August were up from 3,970 in July - and were four times as great as the number of openings in August 2009, according to the report from the N.C. Technology Association.

National job openings expanded 3.3 percent in August, according to the data compiled for NCTA by SkillPROOF, which focuses on jobs research.
