Police car damaged during cocaine arrest

— A 50-year-old Raleigh man is in jail today after police said he tore the driver's side mirror off a patrol car while resisting arrest on a felony cocaine charge.

Donald Walter Jones, of 731 Chappell Drive, is facing one count of felony possession of cocaine, one count of resisting a public officer and one count of damaging government property, according to arrest documents filed with the Wake County Magistrate's Office.

Police said Jones "thrashed back and forth while being placed under arrest" by Officer G. Mendez Wednesday in Raleigh. Jones is in custody in the Wake County jail in lieu of $12,000 bail.
