From Staff ReportsSeptember 16, 2010

— A bullet-proof vest, a revolver, an assortment of ammunition and four small marijuana plants were among the items seized from the home of a man arrested in the murder of one teen and the shooting of three others earlier this week in Raleigh.

Authorities seized the items Tuesday while searching the home of 24-year-old Martin Perez Botello of 1019 N. Spring Garden Circle, according to an arrest warrant released Wednesday.

Investigators have charged Botello of Raleigh with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder in the shooting, which occurred Monday night near the intersection of Capital and Crabtree boulevards just inside the Beltline.

Officers initially responded to a report of gunfire shortly before 9 p.m. Monday and found Francisco Aurelio Kelly, 18, of Rocky Mount, dead at the scene. Three juveniles, a 15-year-old male, a 15-year-old female and a 14-year-old female, were transported to WakeMed with gunshot wounds that were not considered life-threatening.
