Stachitas to get start for Wake

Deacons make change at QB

Associated PressSeptember 29, 2010

Ted Stachitas is back as Wake Forest's starting quarterback.

The team's depth chart released Tuesday listed Stachitas as the starter ahead of freshman Tanner Price, who made the last two starts on the road but was knocked out of the Florida State game in the third quarter with a concussion.

Stachitas started the Demon Deacons' wins against Presbyterian and Duke but bruised his non-throwing hand against the Blue Devils. Price relieved him and started the team's losses at Stanford and Florida State.

Garcia remains Gamecocks starting QB: The quarterback controversy has ended in a hurry at South Carolina.

Coach Steve Spurrier said Tuesday that Stephen Garcia will start on Oct. 9 when the No. 20 Gamecocks play No. 1 Alabama.

Spurrier pulled Garcia in the fourth quarter of last weekend's loss to Auburn after he fumbled twice. Freshman Connor Shaw came in and threw interceptions on successive possessions.

MSU's Dantonio to return Saturday: Michigan State's Mark Dantonio plans to be in a coaching box above the field Saturday when the No. 24 Spartans face No. 11 Wisconsin, just two weeks after he was hospitalized after a mild heart attack.

Dantonio said Tuesday he will ease back into his job.
