CASL girls get wins

Capital Area Soccer League girls teams had a standout weekend in Division III play, which funnels the best club soccer teams in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida into regional championships.

Saturday in Charlotte, CASL's U-15 Spartan Elite Black topped Carolina Elite Soccer Academy's Premier 2-1, on goals by Mary Gracin Palmer and Bayley Rigsbee. On Sunday, Spartan Elite Black blanked South Carolina United 4-0, with goals by Palmer, Rigsbee, Cheyenne Warrick and Dominique Babbitt.

In other girls Division III games:

In Gastonia, CASL's U-16 Spartan Elite Black topped CESA ('94) Girls Premier 2-1 on a pair of goals from Alexis Shaffer, followed by a 7-0 thrashing of SC United FC 94 Elite. Shaffer (2), Joanna Boyles (2), Alexis Degler (2) and Cady Cone scored goals.

Also Saturday, the U-17 CASL Spartan Elite Black defeated SC United Mt. Pleasant Elite 3-1, with goals from Caroline Gentry, Kiki Davis and Sydney Sawaya. The following day Spartan Elite Black defeated CESA Premier 4-1, with goals by Gentry (2), Katie Thomas and Caroline Lindquist.

CASL's U-18 Spartan Elite opened Saturday with a 1-1 draw against CESA ('92) Premier. Ashley Stokes scored for CASL. On Sunday, Spartan Elite blanked SC United FC ('92) Elite 9-0. Ashley Shaffer (3), Erin Mulhern (2), Anna Dulaney, Katelynn Reeve, Sarah Russo and Rachel Hunter scored the goals.

Carolina SC results

The U14 Select Girls remain undefeated in the Premier Division with a 3-0-1 record.

The undefeated U-17 ('93) Select Girls beat the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association's Twister Green 4-1 as Alyssa Omile had two goals.

The U15 Select Girls beat AC Sandhills Elite Orange 4-1 and also remains undefeated in First Division play.
