Agribusiness company Syngenta is once again ranked among the top biotechnology and pharmaceutical employers, according to a new poll published in Science magazine.

Syngenta, a Swiss company that has its North American biotech headquarters in RTP, ranked seventh in this year's poll -- up from No. 20 last year.

"When you have talented people, challenging work and a collaborative environment, you can accomplish great things," Michiel van Lookeren Campagne, head of Syngenta Biotechnology Research and Development, said in a prepared statement.

The rankings were based on a survey of 2,444 people who work in the industry and were asked to rate companies on a host of factors, including the work culture and environment and the intellectual challenge.

Syngenta, which produces seeds and crop protection products, has more than 25,000 employees worldwide, including about 400 in RTP.
