What worked: There aren't many bright spots in a five-game losing streak, but the Deacons got a 241-yard rushing performance from Josh Harris against Virginia Tech. Harris ripped off an 87-yard touchdown run, but it was one of the few encouraging moments.
What needs work: The Deacons' defense remains overmatched. The unit surrendered 49 first-half points at Virginia Tech and more than 600 yards. Then there was freshman quarterback Tanner Price, who completed just 3 of 16 passes against the Hokies.
What's next: The Deacons (2-5, 1-3 ACC) get a week off, which probably comes at a good time, before they head to Maryland, where they have a chance to end their losing streak.
