In response to the Oct. 27 letter "Bonding via schools," I would suggest the writer read the article in the Oct. 26 Sports section "King not alone in his fight" to read a truly heartwarming success story on school assignment based on diversity/income.
Neighborhood schools are a great idea when you have a small community where families with different levels of income and education reside in the same part of town. However they do not work when you have large clusters of rich elitists living together, not wanting their children to be exposed to life as we live it today. Teachers, students and their parents create the school community no matter how far away or what side of town they live on.
