RALEIGH -- Raleigh Police said late Sunday that a Knightdale man previously thought to have been killed while crossing Capital Boulevard in a hit-and-run accident was lying on the road when he was struck by a passing car.
An ongoing investigation has led police to conclude that Christopher Maher, 41, was lying in the roadway for unknown reasons on Saturday at 3:45 a.m. when he was run over by a car. The driver remained at the site and spoke with police investigators.
