Clipboard: Duke Blue Devils

Lost to Boston College 21-16

What worked: Wide receiver Conner Vernon continues to make his case for All-ACC votes, returning from a concussion to catch 12 passes for 134 yards in Duke's 21-16 loss to Boston College on Saturday. What he'll probably remember though, is the possible 13th - the fourth-down pass, with a minute left, that was meant for him in the end zone; instead, it was batted down near the line of scrimmage.

What needs work: The Blue Devils knew they faced a hard day on the ground; after all, the Eagles boasted the third-best rushing defense in the country. But four yards? Duke hadn't been that bad on the ground since 2006, when the Devils finished with minus-21 running yards in a loss to Virginia.

What's next: Duke (3-7, 1-5 ACC) hits the road Saturday to face Georgia Tech (3-4, 5-5) at 1:30 p.m.
