The double bill begins at 7, and admission is $8 ($6.25 for Star members). 560-3030; festivals.carolinatheatre.org/retrofantasma.

Also tonight, for its final screening of the year, the N.C. Museum of Art's fall film series will play the 1998 movie "Pleasantville," starring Tobey Maguire, Reese Witherspoon and Joan Allen. It starts at 8, and admission is $5 ($3.50 for students and museum, Cinema, Inc. and Galaxy Cinema members). Details: 715-5923; ncartmuseum.org/calendar.

Saturday, the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival will host a benefit screening of Martin Scorsese and Kent Jones' "A Letter to Elia," a 2010 documentary on controversial filmmaker Elia Kazan ("On the Waterfront"). Full Frame founder Nancy Buirski will join a post-screening discussion. It starts at 7:30 at the Nasher Museum of Art in Durham. $35 for one ticket, $50 for two. 433-9804; www.fullframefest.org.

And on Sunday evening, the Durham Cinematheque will once again roll out "Nicotine Cinema," a gumbo of short films, music videos and long-lost TV ads, all dealing with that addictive practice known as smoking. It starts at 6:30 at the Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, and admission is free (but donations will be accepted). 688-0965.
