Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski doesn't often schedule nonconference games on opponents' campuses, so playing in Kansas City, Mo., against Kansas State made for about the most hostile environment Blue Devils will face outside the ACC.

It was pretty intense. There were a few Duke fans at the game, but not nearly as many as when the Blue Devils play St. John's in Madison Square Garden or other opponents in East Rutherford, N.J.

Calling the first four fouls of the game on Kansas State didn't make the referees popular in an arena full of Wildcats purple. Nor did two three-second calls in the first half against Kansas State.

Seth Curry's first shot against a ranked team for Duke resulted in a four-point play.

He sank a 3-pointer from the corner, was fouled by Will Spradling and sank the free throw afterward.

In an active first half off the bench, Curry also had a pair of steals and set up Andre Dawkins for a 3-pointer and Kyle Singler for a 15-footer.
