I don't know about you, but I haven't used my waffle iron in so long I'm not sure I remember where it is anymore. I suppose it's time to admit that I've gotten spoiled.

And I do mean spoiled. Just a few years ago, I considered myself lucky to avoid a half-hour wait before sitting down to a Belgian waffle or eggs Benedict in one of the handful of restaurants that served Sunday brunch. Now, those familiar comforts are so easy to come by that I sometimes yearn for something different.

Apparently I'm not the only one. An increasingly diverse assortment of restaurants are hopping on the brunch bandwagon, broadening the menu of Sunday morning fare to include everything from bratwurst to empanada. Here are three of the most exciting new options I've come across. Next week, I'll dish up the goods on a few more.
