Buche de Noel cooking class

You can learn to make this traditional French Christmas treat from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Raleigh's North Regional Library.

Cooking instructor Carol Colburn is teaching the free class. Please call 870-4000 to reserve a space.

The library is at 7009 Harps Mill Road.

Foothills beer dinner

Chapel Hill's Cypress on the Hill is hosting a five-course beer dinner at 7 p.m. Wednesday featuring brews from Foothills Brewing Co.

The menu includes boudin blanc, a white pork sausage, with beer-braised purple cabbage, roasted apples and creamy Dijon mustard sauce paired with India Style brown ale. The dinner costs $40.
