Chelsea Academy boys top visitors

The Capital Area Soccer League's Chelsea FC Academy boys teams fared well in a weekend lineup of U.S. Soccer Development Academy matches in Raleigh against teams from South Carolina and Atlanta.

CASL's U16 Chelsea squad beat South Carolina United 1-0 on Saturday, with Yanni Hachem scoring on an assist from Kellen Foster. On Sunday, U16 Chelsea beat the Atlanta Fire 2-0 on goals by Andrew Barber and Fernando Castellanos.

CASL's U18 Chelsea team opened with a 0-0 draw against South Carolina United on Saturday. On Sunday, U18 Chelsea routed the Atlanta Fire Academy 8-0.

Triangle Futbol Club alumni

Seven former Triangle Futbol Club girls earned all-conference honors for their college teams, the club said.

In the ACC, Mollie Pathman (Duke) was an All-ACC second-team selection and also was chosen for the All-Freshman team.

Gloria Douglas (Virginia) also was chosen to the All-Freshman team.

In the Big South, Casey Norris (Liberty) made to the All-Freshman team.

In Conference Carolinas, Lindsey Stanley (Mount Olive) was on the league's third team.

In the Southern Conference, Kelsey Kearney (UNC Greensboro) was a first-team selection, and Chelsey Stark (Elon) was All-Freshman.

In the USA South Conference, Danielle Lee (Meredith) was a second-team pick.

Triangle United Winter Camp

Triangle United will host a Dec. 28-30 winter soccer camp from 1-4 p.m. each day at UNC's Eddie Smith Fieldhouse in Chapel Hill. Boys and girls ages 5 to 14 are eligible, with a camp fee of $75 ($65 if received by Dec. 17). For further details, e-mail camps@triangleunited.org.
