Blackbeard's ship yields more pieces

Published: December 15, 2010

— A sword handle made of antler and weights used to verify the value of silver coins are among recent artifacts recovered from Blackbeard's ship.

Researchers unveiled the artifacts at the Queen Anne's Revenge Conservation Lab at East Carolina University in Greenville on Tuesday.

Among the 122 artifacts recovered this fall were parts of swords, weights and glass panes from the window of the captain's cabin.

Some of the items will be on display at the N.C. Maritime Museum in Beaufort starting Saturday.

The N.C. Department of Cultural Resources is overseeing research of the shipwreck and says about half of the Queen Anne's Revenge has been recovered so far.
