Army investigating Fort Bragg soldier's death

The Army is investigating the death of an 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper who was found dead with a single gunshot wound on Fort Bragg on New Year's Day.

Capt. Jeremiah D. Sipes, 33, of Belgrade, Mont., was an intelligence officer in the 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Sipes is the second Fort Bragg paratrooper to die of a gunshot wound over the holidays. Spc. Freddy J. Hook, 20, of Maurice, La., died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Dec. 23. Hook was a health-care specialist with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
