Leslie Earl Rouse, Sr., 84, of Kinston, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011. Born in Greene County on September 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Leslie R. and Ida Sutton Rouse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William, Odie, Carl, and Harold; and sisters, Minnie Mae and Kathleen.
Mr. Rouse was a member of Grainger Baptist Church, and had retired from farming.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Della Smith Rouse, of the home; daughter, Jane Elizabeth Rouse, of Raleigh; son, Les Rouse and wife, Denise, of Kinston; grandchildren, Christopher Rouse and wife, Vicki, Brandi Nicole Rouse, and Josh Earl Rouse; great-grandson, Cayden Christopher Rouse; brother, Felix Dawson Rouse, of Grifton; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Reverend Benji Ramsaur and Reverend Allen Ham officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
