Aldi coming to Wake Forest

STAFF WRITERFebruary 10, 2011

Discount grocer Aldi is in the preliminary stages of building a new store in Wake Forest.

A deed filed with the Wake County Register of Deeds this week shows that Crossroads Holdings LLC sold a 2.4-acre piece of property to Aldi (N.C.) LLC for $1.6 million.

Charles Gordon Brown, an attorney and representative for Crossroads Holdings, said the piece of property is on Main Street in Wake Forest, near the Walmart Supercenter and next to the Crossroads Nissan car dealership.

Todd Bonnett, real estate director for Aldi NC, confirmed that the company had bought the property and said the store is tentatively scheduled to open in spring 2012. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year.

The German chain has four Triangle locations: two in Raleigh, one in Cary and one in Fuquay-Varina.
