About 400 dance students, teachers and directors from across the state participated in the UNC School of the Arts' Festival of North Carolina Dance last month in Winston-Salem.

Several Triangle-area dance companies were among those taking part, including Cary Ballet School and the International Ballet Academy of Cary, City Ballet from Raleigh, Encore Academy of Dance from Durham, Gotta Dance and Taylor Academy of Dance from Wake Forest, Infinity Ballet from Apex and Triangle Youth Ballet from Chapel Hill.

During the weekend festival, the dancers watched and gave performances and took classes on technique, pointe and variations, jazz and character taught by UNCSA School of Dance faculty and guest artists.
