Coming in hot: Guard Nolan Smith, the ACC player of the year, scored 30 points Saturday in the Blue Devils' loss at North Carolina.

Number to know: 30-3, Duke's record in the ACC tournament since 1999. The Blue Devils have won nine of the past 12 ACC tournaments.

Contender or pretender: Even though North Carolina is the No. 1 seed, Duke should be considered at least a co-favorite because of the emphasis coach Mike Krzyzewski puts on winning the ACC tournament. The Blue Devils might need forward Kyle Singler, who has missed 27 of his last 33 3-point attempts, to regain his shooting touch if they're going to win.
