Coming in hot: FSU leads the nation in field-goal percentage defense (36.5 percent).
Number to know: 3-2, the Seminoles' record without star forward Chris Singleton, who fractured his foot last month. Coach Leonard Hamilton said Monday that Singleton may, or may not, be back in time for Friday's game.
Contender or pretender: FSU's strength is its defense, but the question is whether it has enough offensive firepower to advance game after game after game. Singleton's return would help, but the most important thing would be to get him back in rhythm for the NCAA tournament, for which the Seminoles appear to be one of the few ACC locks.
