18-13 regular season, 7-9 ACC

vs. No. 10 seed N.C. State, 7 p.m. today, ESPN2, WRAL-101.5

Starting lineup

G Terrell Stoglin 11.6 ppg, 3.3 apg

G Adrian Bowie 9.0 ppg, 3.6 apg

F Cliff Tucker 9.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg

F Dino Gregory 9.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg

C Jordan Williams 16.9 ppg, 11.6 rpg

Coming in hot: Freshman point guard Terrell Stoglin has averaged 19.1 points over his last eight games to provide the Terrapins with perimeter scoring to complement center Jordan Williams.

Number to know: 3, number of consecutive Maryland losses to end the regular season, the first time since 2005 the Terps enter the tournament with a three-game losing streak.

Contender or pretender: The Terrapins are 8-0 against N.C. State coach Sidney Lowe, so it's unlikely that Maryland will fall in the opening round. But Maryland isn't defending well enough to make a deep tournament run.
