Coming in hot: Grant has consistently delivered big production for the Tigers inside, both as a scorer and rebounder. His 17-point, nine-rebound, four-blocked shot effort against Virginia Tech Saturday exemplified his season.

Number to know: 60, points allowed per game, the lowest in the ACC. The Tigers aren't necessarily pretty in what they do, but they get it done defensively.

Contender or pretender: Getting a first-round bye should help the Tigers, but they're at least one player short of being a serious contender. They lack a player who can take over games, especially at the offensive end, but that doesn't mean they can't make some noise in Greensboro.
