Zelma Smith Watson, 88, of Albemarle, NC passed away on March 11, 2011.
Mrs. Watson was born in Stanly County on December 31, 1922 to the late C. Lester and Nellie Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Jefferson Watson.
She was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church. She was an organist and pianist for the area churches for many years. She retired from Smith Novelty after 60 years of service.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her daughter, Janet Swaringen and husband Gerald of Albemarle; son, Ted Watson of Cary; grandchildren, Jeff Swaringen, Jerry Swaringen and wife Angel all of Albemarle; Sam and David Watson, both of Cary; great-grandchildren, Alex and Allison Swaringen.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 13 from 1:30-3 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home. The service will follow at 3 PM in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Chapel. Burial will take place Monday, March 14 at 12 PM at Fairview Memorial Park. Rev. Jesse Dennis will officiate the services.
