Ups

May 6, 2006: N.C. State introduces Lowe as the Wolfpack's new basketball coach.

Feb. 3, 2007: N.C. State 83, No. 3 UNC 79. In his first game coaching against North Carolina, Lowe and his team stun the highly ranked Tar Heels in the RBC Center three days after the Wolfpack stops No. 16 Virginia Tech on the road.

Nov. 25, 2007: N.C. State 69, Villanova 68. Early in the 2007-08 season, the Wolfpack upsets the No. 20 Wildcats to win the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Fla. The Pack jump to No. 24 in the national polls.

March 8-11, 2007: With Brandon Costner and Gavin Grant earning spots on the ACC all-tournament team, the 10th-seeded Wolfpack upsets Duke, Virginia and Virginia Tech to reach the championship game in Tampa, Fla. The unlikely run ends with an 89-80 loss to UNC, followed by a three-game run in the NIT.

Feb. 11, 2009: N.C. State 82, No. 7 Wake Forest 76. After a close loss at Virginia Tech, the Wolfpack returns home and stops the Demon Deacons. Brandon Costner has 23 points and nine rebounds.

Jan. 20, 2010: N.C. State 88, No. 7 Duke 74. In the RBC Center, forwards Tracy Smith and Dennis Horner combine for 43 points as the Wolfpack upsets the eventual national champions.

March 11-13, 2010 (ACC tournament): Seeded 11th, Lowe's team knocks off Clemson and Florida State before losing by three points to Georgia Tech in the semifinals.

April 19, 2010: Raleigh Word of God's C.J. Leslie, rated a five-star forward prospect by recruiting services, announces his plans to join an incoming N.C. State class that also includes highly regarded guards Lorenzo Brown and Ryan Harrow.

Downs

Dec. 3, 2006: No. 25 Virginia 67, N.C. State 62. After five wins to start the season, Lowe loses his first ACC game, a road game at Charlottesville, Va.

Jan. 9, 2007: No. 17 Clemson 87, N.C. State 76. The Wolfpack's ACC record drops to 0-3 with the team's second straight league loss in the RBC Center.

Dec. 8, 2007: East Carolina 75, N.C. State 69. A trip to Greenville results in a staggering loss that indirectly set the season's tone. N.C. State finishes Lowe's second season with a 15-16 record, 4-12 in the ACC.

Feb. 9, 2008: Maryland 84, N.C. State 70. After consecutive wins over Wake Forest and Virginia Tech, a loss in College Park, Md., ignites a nine-game losing streak that ends with a 63-50 ACC tournament loss to Miami in Charlotte.

April 7, 2008: Forward J.J. Hickson leaves for the NBA after his freshman season after averaging 14.8 points and 8.5 rebounds a game.

Nov. 18, 2010: In the season's second game, standout senior forward Tracy Smith injures a knee and requires surgery, keeping him on the sideline until Jan. 1.

Jan. 25, 2011: Clemson 60, N.C. State 50. Ahead 31-12 at Clemson, the Wolfpack collapses, losing that game as well as the next three ACC games. Although later victories against Wake Forest and the Tigers in the RBC Center momentarily provide some hope, the crash at Clemson proves pivotal to the team's continued struggles.

Feb. 23, 2011: No. 19 UNC 75, N.C. State 63. This ends up being Lowe's last crack at the Tar Heels, and after the loss in the RBC Center - N.C. State's 10th consecutive loss to UNC - it's only a matter of time.

March 10, 2011: Maryland 75, N.C. State 67: The opening-round loss in the ACC tournament fuels speculation that Lowe has coached his final game at N.C. State.

March 15, 2011: Lowe resigns.
