Cpl. Matthew T. Richard, 21, of Acadia, La., died Thursday in combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, the Defense Department reported today.
He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune.
