Obama's motorcade briefly closes I-40 in both directions

NCDOT traffic cameras at 3 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, show empty stretches of I-40 cleared for President Obama's motorcade.

Interstate 40 was briefly closed in both directions at Research Triangle Park and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, awaiting President Obama's motorcade to RDU.

Eastbound traffic was blocked at the Davis Drive exit in RTP, while westbound was stopped at Airport Boulevard.

Traffic backed up for miles in both directions until the road was reopened.
