At the end of the year, about 40 state lawmakers will retire and about 30 are eligible for a state legislative pension. The table shows the lawmakers' current salary and annual pension upon retirement. 
The state has spent about $140 million on 79 stream and wetland restoration projects that are failing, need significant repair or are too far away from drinking water sources harmed by development. 
Since the first of the year, nearly 500 exceptions to the state hiring freeze have been approved. Look them up on this list of exemptions. 
The legislature is in full swing, and lobbyists representing hundreds of companies and other interests are making their rounds.
