Regarding your July 17 article "Where swimmers meet": I lamented/celebrated that Tuesday night was this year's last meet. As the mother of a 5-year-old who is on the team for the second year, I was struck when we recognized our seniors. I saw pictures of groups of girls and boys from their 6 and under years next to photos of the exact same groups of children who are now 18-year-olds. This may just be the only sport as your article mentions where they stay together regardless of schools, etc.

I swam for the same pool in Cary from ages 3 to 18, and I am so happy my children are able to get the same opportunity. I adore the summer swim season with all the sweat and effort! My husband did not grow up swimming, and the concept/amount of time involved is foreign to him. So thank you for an article I can show him to put into words why I am adamant about our children doing this!
