RALEIGH — The Wake County school board reached into Superintendent Tony Tata's former school district Tuesday to fill the new position of assistant superintendent for special education services.
Lisa Grillo, a former special education teacher and currently a principal in D.C. Public Schools, was hired for the new assistant superintendent's position. Tata was chief operating officer of D.C. Public Schools before being hired by Wake.
Tata created Grillo's new position as part of a reorganization of his leadership team. Her salary will be $120,000.
The board also extended Thomas Dixon's contract as interim principal of Wake Forest-Rolesville High. The retired principal is receiving a monthly salary of $11,167.
The board also named Charles Langley to be interim principal of Dillard Drive Elementary School in Raleigh. The retired principal will receive a monthly salary of $8,960.
