A Wake County family has filed a complaint against the school system’s decision to suspend allowing elementary school students to take the new middle school math curriculum. 
Many who signed the petition praise Hankins’ leadership and cite a perception he was demoted because he is black, a charge that school board officials say is unwarranted.

The house budget doesn’t anticipate any fee increases, and the state courts would escape major reductions while federal election grants would be unfrozen.
